Yoga as a Complementary Therapeutic Approach in the Management of Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy

Cancer is a significant global health challenge that affects millions of individuals, leading to a substantial impact on their well-being and healthcare systems. One of the common side effects of cancer treatment is Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy (CIPN), which can significantly impair the patient's quality of life. There is emerging evidence that an ancient holistic practice, such as yoga, could offer a promising solution. This chapter provides a comprehensive literature review that explores the integration of yoga into modern healthcare as a complementary approach, particularly in alleviating CIPN symptoms. Our findings indicate that yoga interventions can effectively reduce CIPN symptoms, enhance sensory and motor functions, and decrease the incidence of falls. The application of yoga in cancer care highlights the increasing recognition of integrative medicine's potential to offer a holistic, patient-centred approach.
