Abstract

Research around the world relates the consumption of aflatoxins with liver cancer, however this is not the only condition that revolves around them, since it has been observed that many affectations, especially chronic aflatoxicosis, directly or indirectly, affects the health of populations, but mainly children and people with some other condition. In a general way we want to show in this work the scenario involved in the consumption of these mycotoxins and their effects produced by the adducts or products that intervene within the human body, as well as the types of biomarkers that can be used to know if there is exposure to these secondary metabolites and some chemoprotective drugs that are used to prevent further damage to the body. Concluding that more knowledge is needed to know a little more about the factors that involve the different affectations and how to reduce the risk.
