Kanakchampa

Pterospermum acerifolium (Sterculiaceae) is an herb distributed throughout the world. Kanakchampa, Karnikara, Muchukunda, and Matsakanda are some of the common names for this plant. It grows to a height of 60ft. The plant's leaves are widely used in Indian proprietary medicines to treat diabetes and as a haemostatic. The plant has been shown to have antioxidant, antiulcer, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, hypoglycemic, immunosuppressive, wound healing, hepatoprotective, antihelmentic, antimitotic, and anticancer properties. It is thought to be used in the treatment of inflammation, abdominal pain, ascites, ulcers, leprosy, constipation, urinary discharges, and tumours. Pharmacognosy can be the first step in determining whether a plant organ is suitable for use as a crude medicine. As a result, a thorough Pharmacognostic study of Pterospermum acerifolium (L.)Willd seed was conducted. Various aspects of pharmacognosy, such as macroscopy, microscopy, histochemical analysis, powder study, preliminary phytochemical screening, fluorescence analysis, and physicochemical constants, were laid out in the current study.
