Abstract

Prosperity and survival of a community has always been due to the education of the members of that community. Fictions and epics demonstrate how different nations try to transfer their ideals to the next generation, and teachers have done this great job through sweet and symbolic stories. The result of this has been the survival of the community, so teachers' knowledge has played an important role in creating civilization and convergence of people. However, scientists focus on new western philosophical and educational schools nowadays, so a big portion of old philosophers and writers' attitudes has been forgotten and new generations are not aware of them although it is always advisable to look at the past and learn from it. Reviewing the educational attitudes of the Muslim writers and philosophers is a chance for benefiting from experimented methods which not only have been the resolutions for the problems of their own era and effective in creation of the foundations of civilization, but also have maintained their acceptability today. This paper is an attempt to analyze and review the attitudes of "Sa’di Shirazi", the great poet known as a great educator and thinker in Iran, in Gulistan towards the characteristics of teachers.
