Abstract

This paper was investigating the effects of inertial, centripetal, and Coriolis forces on the dynamic response of a cantilever beam with a single crack under moving mass load. The inertial, centripetal, and Coriolis forces are appreciably affected by the mass and the velocity of the moving load. The cracked cantilever beam system was modeled as a two-span beam and each span of the continuous beam was assumed to obey the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. The crack was modeled as a rotational spring with sectional flexibility. The response of the system was obtained in terms of Duhamel integral. The differential equation that involves nonlinearity on its right side was solved via an iterative procedure. A parametric study was executed.
