Abstract

The spatial distribution of melon aphid. Aphis gossypii Glover on okra. Abelrnoschus escule, usts (L.) Mocnçh Pur. Pusa sawani was studied at the experimental field of the Department of Life Sciences, Manipur University during the two consecutive cropping seasons (2005-2006). The various indices of dispersion viz-variance to mean ratio, mean crowding. Lloyd’s index of patchiness, index of clumping, dispersion parameter-k. coefficient of variance, mean clump size. mean colony size, Iwao’s regression fining and Taylor’s Power Law were used to study the spatial distribution of the pest on okra. A. gossypli was observed to follow contagious distribution on the host plant.
